Review: Maybelline Brow Drama by Eye Studio Sculpting Brow Mascara

Happy Friday! I wasn't planning on blogging today but by some divine miracle, in my drug store rounds I came across the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara. And can we just talk about how much luck I have? I went to Ulta to see if they had it after a couple stops since if I couldn't find the Maybelline product I would just get my trusty Benefit Gimme Brow instead. Ulta didn't have it but they also only had the dark Gimme Brow and I need the light. Then I went to Target and they had it! Lucky day!

This is a new product that seems like it's aiming to be like Benefit's Gimme Brow. Now that brows are such a big thing everyone's jumping on board and it's wonderful! They have three shades of this product: Blonde, Soft Brown and Dark Brown. I got mine in Soft Brown.

The brush is definitely different. That big ball on the end is a little scary, no?

Here it is in comparison to Benefit's Gimme Brow.

As you can obviously see, the Maybelline brush is not only a different shape but quite bigger than the Benefit brush.

Now let's see it in action! For comparison's sake, these are my brows filled in with the Anastasia Brow Whiz in Carmel and then topped off with Gimme Brow in Light/Medium.

These are my brows with no product.

What was life before brow pencils? My goodness.

These are my brows with just the Anastasia Brow Whiz.

And finally, with the Maybelline Brow Drama.

The Gimme Brow looks a little softer but I think it's because I'm almost out of it so I wasn't getting the full effect in that photo. I think the Maybelline one does a great job! And those are unplucked hairs on my left eye there, not hairs not being controlled by the product. I wasn't planning on photographing my brows today! :x

Overall I would definitely recommend it. I haven't worn it all day but I would have to image it stays on pretty well. The description claims that it's smudge proof so that's a gigantic plus. I also feel like if you aren't into really sculpting your brows or you don't need to fill in your brows and just want a little hold with a bit of a tint, you can more than likely get away with using this on its own.

Have you found this product anywhere and started using it? Love it? Hate it? Excited to not have to spend $24 on Gimme Brow? I know I am!

Lookbook & Review: e.l.f. Snow White Fairest Of Them All a Beauty Book

Alright! So for the past week I've been playing around with the Snow White Beauty Book and I have to say... I love it!! I love every shadow and they have great lasting power. I used them over the e.l.f. primer every time with wonderful success. I had no creasing and very little fading. The blush is really beautiful too. It looks incredibly natural on the skin and gives just a hint of a glow. The lip gloss is equally as wonderful as it's very buildable. You can get a nice tinted looking lip or a full-on red lip. I'm a huge fan of this palette and recommend it to anyone!

Here are the looks that I did all week. Sorry for flaking in some of these pictures. I take them before I run out the door to work so I don't always see every detail until I look back at them before I post. Oops!

This first look is going by the face chart that is included in the palette. It's a bit more dramatic with the eye and lip combination than I'm used to be I liked it! I felt really vampy!

Then it was play time!

Ever have one of those days when you have one idea of how your eyeliner is going to look but your eyeliner has a different idea? Yeah, this was one of those days. <.>

I put down some blue liner before I put down the blue shadow on the bottom lash line to help the pigmentation and staying power. On it's own, this shadow wasn't too pigmented so I think the base really helped.

This is my favorite shadow in this palette hands down. This is a one-shadow look with One Song. I thought this would be a good shadow for this type of look and I was right. This is such an easy, smokey look that is absolutely perfect for the fall! I am in love with this look.

I also did a one-shadow look with the green shadow and a little of the white on the inner corner. I loved this look. It's so glowy in person and is nice for the last couple weeks of summer. The pigmentation stayed steady all day long, too!

Can I also just talk about how much I loved my bun! The blonde streaks poking through were adorable. I was such a fan.

And that's everything! Like I said, I love this palette and definitely think it's worth picking up. For only $10 this is an absolute steal. Grab it while you can!

And now I'm off to catch up on Under The Dome and hang out with my sleepy munchkins.

Weekly Geekly: Sketches

Hi! I figured an awards show recap would probably be a bit boring since odds are you know what happened and obsessed over everything I would be obsessing over so I'm skipping that and going with something else. Baltimore Comic Con is next weekend and I couldn't be more excited. Jon and I didn't go to Philadelphia Wizard World or any of the Monster Mania cons that they have here in South Jersey. Needless to say I am jonesing for some Con action!

One of my favorite parts about Comic Cons is getting custom sketches. I love scoping out the artists that I like and getting some sketches in my sketch book. It's the best. I only really started going to these when I started dating Jon so my collection is a little on the small side but I love what I have so far so I figured I'd show it off!

This is the sketch book that I take. It's nothing special and I got it at Barnes and Noble. If you're looking to go to a Con and get sketches I would highly recommend bringing more than one book or bring one that has perforated edges so if worse comes to worse you can easily rip a page out and leave it. I have a couple more that I found in my room that I'll be bringing with me this year.

I love Poison Ivy and she's always my go-to when I don't know who to get sketched. The last one was totally intentional though since I had Instagram stalked the Wizard World hashtag on Instagram and saw her work. I knew I had to get something from her! Her name is Tania Del Rio if you're interested.

This one I won on Instagram which was awesome! I definitely want to get something else from him in Baltimore!

Love me some Jesse Pinkman!

And those are all the ones I have. Like I said, small but growing collection. I had planned on getting a Lupin sketch from one particular artist who is usually there but I'm not sure if she's going to be there this year. If not, I'll wait until next year and spring on a good Sherlock one! The other nice thing is that not everyone charges for sketches. You do have to understand, however, that these are the bread and butter for a lot of the artists that are there so you will have to pay a bit more if you want an all out sketch. Generally you can get just a sketch done for around $25-$40, but if you want color or multiple characters you'll pay a bit more. I think it's totally worth it though. It's an original work of art!

Are you going to any Cons soon? Have you been to one already and got some awesome sketches? Let me know in the comments below!

Girl About Town: Phillies vs. Nationals

Hello! I hope you had a fantastical weekend and a very happy Monday! My weekend began with an emergency Lupin vet trip (he's okay now, he was just dehydrated) and then included some Sherlock, some catching up with friends and I finally watched Divergent, which I enjoyed as much as the book. I can finally read the second one since by the time I got it it was so long since I read the first that I didn't remember what happened.

Anyway. Last night my mom and I had a Phillies game and I love when the Nationals come to town as Jayson Werth (a former Phillie in the glory years) comes back and we'll just be blunt: as good of a player as he is, he will always be one of my biggest "celebrity" crushes. Him, Edge (they pretty much look identical) and Benedict Cumberbatch is slowly making his way onto that list. I'm fairly certain that we have another Nationals game in our ticket package but I felt like bringing my camera anyway to snap some shots. Our partial season ticket package is in right/center field because my mom's favorite player is Shane Victorino so we were both by our favorite players. It worked out well but now they're gone and it's sad times at Citizens Bank Park as they are barely drawing a crowd anymore. But that means no long lines for food or bathrooms. Bright side to everything.

AND we won! Exciting times. It was a beautiful night and we had a fun time, aside from the sewage smells that wafted towards the end of the game and when we were driving back to New Jersey. It was quite gross. Bleh.

I will be back tomorrow with Weekly Geekly and that will probably be a whole slew of gushing over the VMAs (Queen B!!) and the Emmys. Probably a lot of videos and more nonsense. Something to look forward to for all of us!
