Makeup Monday: Maybelline The Nudes Palette Swatches

Good evening! I was wondering if I was going to be able to get this post up since it is storming like crazy and a tornado apparently has touched down about 10 miles away from where I live. I thought for sure my power would be out soon or at least the cable and internet, but so far so good! Here's hoping everyone is okay and this insanity passes by without too much of an incident.
It also happened to be a good day because I got a lot of goodies in the mail AND my Mom brought pizza and wings home from Buffalo so I ended up having dinner up at my parents' house and driving home in the storm. Totally worth it. Plus I got to bring leftovers home. Extra score!
Anyway, before I go into the palette, I wanted to mention an absolutely adorable Etsy shop that I came across called A Bowtique. This shop has the absolute cutest bows based off everyone's favorite Disney characters, comic book characters and more. I got their Thor bow since I'm going to see the Marvel Live show in a couple weeks and I'll be wearing my Loki shirt but I still wanted to show Thor some love. I think this is so cute and I can't wait to stock up on more!
You can check out the shop here!
So now, onto the palette! Maybelline is jumping on the Naked Palette bandwagon by rolling out a drugstore palette that has more than just four or five eyeshadows - it has 12! This is the first palette from any of the major drugstore brands that I can think of that is this size. The palette runs about $12.00 and is the first of what looks to be three palettes, with the other two being Smokes and Brights. While a nude palette is a safe bet, I'm curious to see how the Brights palette ends up being.
But let's live in the now, shall we? I present to you the Maybelline The Nudes palette.

As you can see, the palette comes in compact packaging and includes a sponge-tip applicator that has a shading side and a liner/crease side. The eyeshadow finishes range but are mostly shimmer. The shades obviously stick to a more neutral palette with your matte skin tone color and matte black to round out the selections. There are several different shades from the brown family as well as a couple more bronzey shades and a gold.
On the back of the packaging is a guide that breaks down the entire palette into quads, trios and duos in case you're a little overwhelmed by the color combinations and aren't sure what to do. I think this is a great idea, considering that there's probably a core Maybelline audience who enjoys the Maybelline product but aren't necessarily makeup experts.
Here are swatches done over Too Faced Shadow Insurance:
As you can see, some are definitely more pigmented than others but maybe with some building and a base they can be helped.
Over the next week I'll be playing around and I will be back next Monday with my lookbook and review!
Have you gotten this palette? Do you love it? Hate it? A bit indifferent? Are you a little sick of the Nudes/Naked fad and more excited to pick up the Smokes or Brights palette? Let me know in the comments below!
