Weekly Geekly: Happy Birthday Harry Potter!

Happy Thursday and happy birthday to both Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling! Did anyone do anything to celebrate the day? Last night my friend Chrissy and I went to a local restaurant, The British Chip Shop, where they had a Harry Potter trivia night! We failed miserably but we had so much fun. They did such a wonderful job with everything, the food was absolutely delicious (as always) and the little treats they made were adorable! I also tried butterbeer for the first time and it was amazing. Want to see some of the stuff we enjoyed? Take a look below!

We had such a blast and it just goes to show that your local, small businesses know what's up! I also learned that I need to read the series again and again. Not that I didn't already know that but I have a certain level I need to be on.

Maybelline The Nudes Palette Lookbook and Review

Happy Friday! Hope you all have a fun and exciting weekend coming up. For me, Jon and I are going to be spending some time down by the ocean tomorrow evening with friends and then Sunday we're going to see Marvel Live! Couple that with all the fun and exciting announcements that always come out of Comic Con and I'd say I'll be having a good weekend.
Since I was unable to do my Makeup Monday post this week I wanted to get my review up for the Maybelline The Nudes palette today. You can see pictures of the palette and swatches here.
I played around with the palette and did a couple looks that were suggested on the back of the palette as well as some of my own. Apparently I was awful at taking pictures of the looks but here are the ones that I have.

Overall I think this is a good palette for its money. Seeing as how this is the first of the standard drug store brands (I don't count NYX) to do one of these palettes, I think they're off on the right foot. Most of the colors have good color payoff and when wearing them over a primer, they last wonderfully all day long.
The only thing that I found wrong with the palette was that the diagrams on the back weren't always correct. They would say to use one of the darker shades as the brow bone highlight when it obviously should be used as a crease color. If you're going to be using those diagrams, just exercise some common sense if you think that a shade should go somewhere different than where indicated.
Is this the most special palette on the market? No. But if you haven't been wanting to splurge on the Urban Decay Naked Palettes or the Lorac Pro Palettes and are looking for a more budget-friendly option, this is definitely worth looking into. I've seen them out at most drug stores I've been in as well as at Target so you shouldn't have a problem finding one.
Lastly, on a completely unrelated note, I've been working on "catifying" my apartment a little more to try to help Lupin and Macaroni get along a little better. I have one of the big Ikea shelves in my living room so I condensed a couple shelves to make room for some levels for the kids. Lupin hasn't really taken to them, but Macaroni loves them!
Cleaning central, she is.
And that's it! Let me know your thoughts on The Nudes palette if you've given it a try. Have a great weekend!

Weekly Geekly: Loot Crate Unboxing

Hi! I missed a couple days there again and I'm actually probably going to do my makeup post on Friday and my photography post on Monday. Switcheroo! But today is Wednesday, which means it's Weekly Geekly time!
As I mentioned in my last Weekly Geekly post, this month's Loot Crate sucked me in since it was Villains themed. I was not disappointed. Take a look below to see what I got!
That's the awesome wrap-around cover of the magazine that is always included. This month there is an interview with Marvel artist Skottie Young, Loot Crate lists their top five video game villains and a couple fun games!
And onto the loot:
BOWSER MAGNET 3x3 | LOOT CRATE LABS
Bowser wants YOU to help him thwart those obnoxious plumbing brothers! Propaganda right out of Bowser's Castle as the Koopa Army rallies all Looters to his crazy cause. Protect your fridge with the most hardcore boss from the Mushroom Kingdom! Toss this on a locker and warn anyone who dares try to enter, your treasures are protected by King Koopa's army! Remember to find a fun place to gather more villainous allies with this magnet and send us pictures!
NECESSARY EVIL DVD | DC COMICS & WARNER BROTHERS
Christoper Lee narrates this awesome documentary that explores the villains of the DC universe from over seven decades of incredible comic book chaos! Find out just what goes into bringing the Rogues Gallery to life in every issue of your favorite books with the Necessary Evil DVD!
DARTH VADER KEY CHAIN | LUCAS FILMS & PLASTICOLOR
It can't be all about comic books because we'd be leaving out another famous villain entirely! Darth Vadar still remains one of the most notorious and well-known good-guy-gone-wrong stories in movies! Why not take him with you everywhere to remind yourself it's okay to be a little bad.
DEADPOOL SOCKS | MARVEL COMICS & HYP
We had considered putting chimichangas in every crate, but it was messy in trials. Check out these awesome socks that give you a hint of anti-hero without the pricey costs of lairs, weapons and medical bills. While there is a debate about how much of a villain Wade is... I mean... Deadpool socks.
EXCLUSIVE ROCKET RACCOON COMIC | MARVEL & DIAMOND COMICS
He's small, adorable, foul-mouthed and armed to the teeth with enough firepower to take on anyone who gets in his way. Did I mention he has a massive tree for a sidekick? Rocket Raccoon is making a huge name for himself thanks to the upcoming Guadians of the Galaxy movie coming this summer. How much do you know about this gifted tactician who protects Keystone Quadrant? Learn more about Rocket and just what makes him one of our favorites in this awesome comic with art by Skottie Young and exclusive cover work by Dale Keown.
HARLEY QUINN AND JOKER POSTERS | DC COMICS & TRENDS INTERNATIONAL
It's hard not to love The Joker just like it's pretty difficult to not appreciate the made love that Harley Quinn has for her boss slash most difficult patient. Get comfortable with two of Arkham's finest with both of these beautiful posters!

JOKI VILLAIN T SHIRT | WOOT!
This shirt combines two of comics most dastardly chaotic villains from two different comic houses. This shirt, brought to you by Zach Finfrock (The artist you've seen on our covers and our magazines!), makes for one awesome mash-up! Wear this exclusive t-shirt with pride and show everyone that these two villains could be far worse if they were all blended into one crazy body! Only from Loot Crate!
And, of course, our monthly button!

I love everything in the box, but I absolutely LOVE the box itself this month!
And that's the crate! It says in the magazine that they're trying to do broader themes, which I can dig since I didn't care much for the Transformers one because I don't care about them, but maybe a robot one or something would've been neat. We shall see what the next couple months bring.

Weekly Geekly: Kawaii Box Unboxing

Hi friends! I hope you're all doing absolutely wonderful! It's already Wednesday so we're almost there. Hang in there!
So I know I haven't done an unboxing on here in a long while, mainly because I feel like I've been incredibly underwhelmed by them for the most part. In fact, I unsubscribed from Loot Crate for like a day because they announced their monthly theme was Villians and there's going to be a t-shirt and a variant cover from Marvel and I just couldn't not get that. I'm getting to be a little over the makeup boxes because I never use the stuff I get so I'm on the fence about those. But can we talk about one that I'm thrilled I subscribed to? It is called Kawaii Box and I learned about this on Twinkie Chan's blog and fell in love. Everything was so adorable and there was Hello Kitty so how could I say no!?
On Monday I got my first Kawaii Box in the mail at work and it was the absolute best pick-me-up on a stormy Monday that I could ask for. Want to see what I got? Take a look below!
Yes, that is a hand-written note with an adorable bunny drawn on there! And a cat! With hearts! I love you too!
This is a giant plush strawberry keychain. And guess what? It smells like strawberries, too! Delish!
This is a squishy little bear keychain. I don't know if he's supposed to look like bread or a marshmallow but either way, so stinking cute!
These are Juicy Hi-Chew candies and are a Peach flavored. I thought this was gum but I was told that it is candy. Either way, I love peach flavored anything, so yum!

Aaahhh!!! I got a little bow for my phone!!! Isn't that just the cutest thing ever? And this is so me. In fact, a couple people from work said if they found this phone sitting anywhere absent a person they would know it belongs to me. I love it!
Eeeee look at these little sticky notes!!! They're little animals!!! Aaaaahhh!!! I love these so much and I can't wait to use them at work! I guess people will know how to take the note if the animals are frowning or smiling.

These adorable stickers are adorable. They are good for use anytime and are just so happy! I love all the little animals on there and the illustrations. Aaaahh!!

This is a macaroon eraser. Yes, a macaroon eraser. It even comes apart. I'm never going to erase with this but it will live on my desk in all it's adorable glory.

These are strawberry hair clips to go with my strawberry keychain.

Look at this panda pencil! It even looks like bamboo!
And then look at this bear bag! I am going to be bringing my lunch in this guy every single day. He is the cutest bear ever.
I am a bear when people wake me up, but at least now I'll be an adorable panda!!
Holy cow. Are you still standing from the cuteness overload?! Is that not the happiest and most adorable collection of things you've ever seen in your life?! I am totally hanging onto this box and I cannot wait to see what I get next month! If you would like to subscribe, you can go here. It is $18.90 a month and they ship worldwide. It ships from Singapore and only took about a week to get to me, which isn't bad at all!
Have you subscribed to Kawaii Box? Do you love it? Of course you do, but tell me about it in the comments below!
