Weekly Geekly: X-Men Days of Future Past Excitement

Okay, so this has been in my head for MONTHS and I've been meaning to start this up. I'm just jumping in with it. Welcome to my Weekly Geekly, which will be every Wednesday here on the blog. I will post about one or many geeky things that I'm excited about. This week, it's X-Men.

The X-Men series was one of the first exposures I remember to having to the comic book world. I have a brother that is five years older than I am, so when I was younger I wanted to do everything he wanted to do. I remember watching the animated X-Men series with him on Saturday mornings, or rewatching the VHS tapes we had gotten from Pizza Hut constantly. I remember reading the comic books that he had thrown to the side and becoming captivated by Phoenix (even though Storm will always be my favorite). As I got older, I remember bonding with some of the guys in my elementary school classes over X-Men and buying packs of trading cards to trade with them and taking them home to try to draw them, which was usually a big giant fail.
As I got older I didn't necessarily keep up with my love for the comics but every time one of the movies came out I was definitely there opening weekend. It's something that I can talk about with my dad and with my brother. While I'm not an avid comic book reader (I'm more of a dabbler), I still enjoy living these characters' stories. This series is one that brings back so many memories for me and I really just love having the opportunity to see these characters played out so well in front of me. Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to seeing the new X-Men journey this weekend.
Are you planning on going to see it? What's your favorite memory of your Geekly love? Favorite member of the X-Men? Leave me some comments below!
