Ipsy January Review & February Bag

Happy Sunday! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Today I bring you a review of my January Ipsy bag and show you what I got in my February one!

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-In Conditioner
I feel like this did a decent job. My hair sometimes needs a little help detangling after I wash it and this did the trick. I didn't really use it religiously  ht when I did I didn't find that it weighed down my hair in any way.

Elizabeth Mott Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil in Penny
This wasn't too shabby. I've been in such a lull in makeup lately so I haven't been doing much during the week but I used this when I wanted a little bit of color on my lid. I blended it with my fingers and it did a decent job of staying. It at also held up well on my waterline.

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm
This was my favorite product from last month. I use this every night before I go to bed and it really helps my lips recover overnight. Since it's been so cold here, my lips have been getting really chapped and cracked but literally overnight when I use this they feel amazing the next morning. I love this and will definitely be buying more when I'm out!

Skiin Soothing and Smoothing Eye Cream
This is my second favorite product that I received. It's not too heavy but not too light in consistency but it feels very moisturizing and keeps my eyes happy all day long. I can't say I've noticed any reduction in fine lines or puffiness (not that I have much of either).

Proactiv+ Mark Fading Pads
I liked these but probably wouldn't repurchase since I don't feel like getting involved in the whole proactiv company. I don't feel like it's easy to just get what I want without having to buy other stuff with it.

Now onto February!

This month's bag is just plain pink on the outside with pink leopard print inside and the theme is The Look of Love.

This is the Jesse's Girl Eye Color Collection in Behind Blue Eyes. I'm surprised by all the blues in the palette since I mostly think of coppers and golds in blue eye palettes but I like the colors! I've never tried Jesse's Girl eyeshadow palettes before but I love their pigment type shadows so I'm excited to try this!

This is Ɯberliss Straight Effect Rituoil. I already have straight hair so I'm not sure why I received this but I love hair oils so I'm not totally bothered. This one contains orchard and Argan oil complexes.

This is the Mally Eyecolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner in Starshine. I've heard Emily on a Beauty Broadcast rave about these so I'm excited to try this. The color is a silverish blue color that looks really pretty. I think it'll even be nice in the inner corner of my eye, especially with that Jesse's Girl palette!

This is Pop Beauty Lip Gloss in Peony Petal. This is a rosy color that looks to have no shimmer in there.

And finally, this is Zoya Nail Polish in Odette. This looks to be a cream formula and is a dusty purple shade.

And that's it! I'm excited to give everything a try!

January 2014 Birchbox Review

Happy almost Friday! Just one more day to go. We are going to see The Lego Movie tomorrow night and I couldn't be more excited! It looks so cute and funny and we love Legos so it should be a good time.

Anyway, remember those times when I was all "oh hey, I'm gonna review this Birchbox at the end of the month" and it never happened? Well hello new year, new you! I'm all over it.

Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream
I liked this! I'm always really leery of putting cream products in my hair since my hair is fine and gets weighed down easily, but this didn't give my any issues. It gave me some shine and glitz to my ends, which is nice since my blonde/orange part of my hair is a little dull. FINAL VERDICT: Thumbs up!

Paula's Choice RESIST Ultra-Light Super Antioxident Cocentrate Serum
Oh. My. G.O.S.H. I mentioned this in my favorites already but I'm going to rave some more because this stuff is amazing. I mentioned in my unboxing that my skin was having some breakout issues and this serum boasted normalizing effects so I was curious to see if it would have any effect on my breakout. The next morning when I woke up there was already a HUGE difference and it only got better over the next day or two. I still have some marks but I'm used to that since I'm fair. I'm in love with this product and already ordered my full size. Hello new life-long friend. FINAL VERDICT: Two thumbs, big toes, knees and everything else way WAY up!

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara in Black Tea
I was actually quite surprised by this. I guess because it was a natural mascara using fruit pigments I didn't think it was going to perform too well but it's really nice! I wouldn't say you're going to get the most dramatic lashes but it's nice for a natural look or for a day where you're bumming around and want to just give a little definition. FINAL VERDICT: Thumbs up!

Ahmed Tea London Assorted Tea
LOVE! I'm such a tea person, especially in the colder months, and I loved these. The English Tea was my favorite, but the Blackcurrant Burst was surprisingly tasty as well! I haven't had the Mint yet since I love minty tea for when I'm feeling sick or congested and (thankfully) I haven't been feeling too badly since I got my box. FINAL VERDICT: All of the thumbs are up!

Nail Rock Sequin
I liked this! It's a little messy (but what glitter project isn't?) but the effect is really neat and I love the color combination. I was looking through a couple of the other ones on the website and I'm intrigued by some of the finer glitter ones so I'm going to have to try some of those! It didn't last very long but I didn't expect it to. I think I got 3 or 4 days out of it before the chipping just got to be too much. I found that since the glitter was chunkier that it would get caught if I was doing anything with my hair so there's that to consider too. I think this is fun for a special event or if you're someone who enjoys doing manicures a couple times a week (like me!). FINAL VERDICT: Thumbs up!

And that was my box! I hope those of you who get Birchbox enjoyed yours as much as I did mine! If you did, what was your favorite product? Did you get any of the ones I got? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll talk to you guys in a couple days!

January 2014 Favorites

Happy Commercial Bowl Sunday!! Hope you're all enjoying your night, whether it's watching the game/commercials, some Walking Dead or just plain relaxing!

I'm making it one of my missions to be better with my monthly favorites this year so here goes!

Paula's Choice Resist Ultra-Light Super Antioxident Concentrate Serum
I received this is my Birchbox this month and wasn't expecting too much from it, only because I never expect immediate results when using sample size skin care. Generally the claims that they make take a little while to take effect if at all so I don't get myself too excited about them. This product was a total surprise and I am absolutely buying myself a full size. I was having some issues with breakouts on my chin, including a GIANT pimple that was so swollen that it was actually affecting the shape of my jawline. Within using this for two days the breakout was 99% contained. I was amazed by this! It's staying in my life forever.

Maybelline Lipstick in 910 Bare All
This lipstick is in the new Buff collection of lipstick by Maybelline, which I believe is a permanent addition to the line, and it is the lightest shade in the range. I'm such a fan of a really nude lip and I just love this. It's the same consistency as MAC's Myth but it leans more pink while I feel Myth leans yellow. It gives you the same totally blanked out effect and is great as a base for a nude lip, or if your natural lips are really pigmented, you can use this to take the color out and get true color from other products.

NYX Butter Gloss in Maple Blondie
This has been my favorite gloss to wear on top of the Bare All lipstick. It gives a pretty pink/orange hue and feels wonderful on the lips.

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara
I got a sample of this at the last Sephora VIB event in November and fell in love. I finally moved on to the full-size tube and continue to be obsessed! I love the look of false lashes but hate wearing them and I think this mascara gives my lashes a false look without getting overly clumpy.

Sleepy Hollow
When my boyfriend and I first heard about this show, we were unsure of how they were going to make an entire show about a story that doesn't really lend itself to series format. Since the first episode, however, I have been hooked and the last couple episodes of this season were AMAZING. The season finale was absolutely crazy! I didn't expect that ending and that twist. It was so good. I can't wait for it to come back in my life!

Wii U
My boyfriend got me a Wii U for Christmas since I had the old Wii and they weren't coming out with games for it anymore or, in the case of my Disney Infinity game, it would have limited features. I am in love with the Wii U and have been having so much fun with it. I already beat LEGO Marvel Super Heroes which was so much fun to play, and am currently playing the Mario Brothers game that came with the system.

I saw this band when they opened for Mumford and Sons last year and really enjoyed them. I've been listening to their album on and off since it was released but I listened to it a ton in January, probably because I'm going to see them in May so I have to study up!

And that's about it! I should be back later this week with my finale reviews on my January Birchbox and ipsy.
