Loot Crate : January 2014 Unboxing

Helloooo!!! Hope you're all doing quite well! I'm FREEZING and can't wait for the weekend when it's going to be in the 40's. Isn't that's sad? Lol Anybeans, I received my Loot Crate for this month so let's dive right on in!

The theme for the month is "Launch" and even includes the company launching a Loot Crate into space!

The opening letter of our Loot Crate Magazine - Issue 6 reads:

So we decided to put one of our crates in near space. By now you've seen the video that documents this journey and hopefully have shared it with friends! We've put together a great crate this month around the theme of LAUNCH. Items to help you launch into the New Year with and gear around a space theme.

Our Star Wars Galactic Phrase book and Travel Guide makes an excellent source of entertaining info even if you're not an extreme Star Wars junkie. It's a bird, it's a plane, it's maybe Domo as a Superman. You love Funko and we're happy to help build your collection or start your new addiction. Document your adventures with the 2014 Minecraft calendar and be sure to circle the 20th of the month so you know when your epic loot begins shipping!

Obviously we got some pretty amazing stuff! The rest of he magazine has some neat features, including how awesome certain space movies would be if Superman was in them; an interview with Bobak Ferdowsi, the awesome mohawk-wearing NASA engineer; everything you need to launch something into space; and a fun crossword puzzle!

Star Wars Galactic Phrase Book | Lucasfilm and Randomhouse
Imagine traveling light years to your nearest spaceport, you land and then realize you don't speak the language and they don't speak Basic! Don't worry! With this handy phrase book it will save you from accidentally starting an intergalactic civil war when all you meant to say was "Hello, where can I get some blue milk?"

Superman POP! Vinyl | DC Comics/WB & Funko
It's a bird! It's a plane! No wait! It's an adorable POP! Vinyl! Did you get the hero, the villain or the adorable one? We're happy to bring you a collective figure from one of the most popular space themed heroes, the original, Superman.

Minecraft 2024 Calendar | Mojang Ab & Trends International
We all know that time is relative. But it's still important to track the earth days while on your journey throughout he stars. Use this calendar after attaching it somehow to your wood/stone/gem wall or you can keep it in a chest somewhere...buried.

NASA Meatball Emblem Patch | NASA & A-B Emblem
Show your support for the space program with this official NASA patch, but please don't try to eat it just because it's called meatball.

Star Wars PocketModel TCG | Lucasfilms & Wizkid
The Star Wars PocketModel TCG is a trading card game for fans of all generations. Assemble you're fleet and create a unique deck filled with Star Wars characters and memorable events from the Star Wars universe. Battle in the Clone Wars and other legendary confrontations!

Melting Rubik's Cube Wall Graphic | Rubik's & Walls360
Looks like this Rubik's Cube went through one too many speed runs. This is why you have to keep iconic geek memorabilia away from warp cores.

Star Trek Communicator Badge | CBS Television & Walls360
Slap this graphic onto your favorite red shirt and always stay in communication with The a Enterprise and the rest of your crew.

We also got this button commemorating the launch!

And that's it! What a great box! Thanks Loot Crate! <3

January 2014 Ipsy Bag

A snowy good evening to you! At least it is here. It is not pleasant out there right now. But I was excited to find my Ipsy bag in my mailbox when I got home! Let's check it out!

The theme this month is 19 Reasons 2014 Will Be AMAZING! The bag features variations of cosmetic silhouettes, ranging from lipstick to hairspray. It's super cute and will perfect for traveling!

This is Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-In Conditioner. I received something from this line in a previous bag and loved it so I'm excited to give this a try.

Next up is Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil in the shade Penny (knock knock knock :D). I'm not sure if it would be interchangeable as an eyeliner but I shall try both ways.

This one is Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm. It says it has daily protection, soothing treatment and fatty acid absorption technology, and is for the "prevention and treatment of dry, irritated lips".

This one is Skiin Soothing and Smoothing Eye Cream. This product claims to reduce the appearance of puffiness and fine lines.

And lastly, I received proactive+ mark fading pads. I'm actually excited about these since I have such fair skin and any time I get a blemish I have the mark around forever. I'm curious to see how they work!

And that's it! I'm excited to play around with everything and report back.

January Birchbox Unboxing

Hello!!  I am so sorry for my absence as of late.  My computer is definitely on its last legs and it just is incredibly difficult to deal with.  Luckily, tax return season is right around the corner so I will be buying myself a new computer with my refund so things should be much easier, plus I should be able to start making videos since I plan on getting an Apple and that comes with iMovie, which (hopefully) won't crash every time I try to do something with it.

ANYWAY.  I received my January Birchbox today so let's see what's inside!

Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Creme | Full Size, $19.99
WHAT:  Rich in olive oil, this creamy frizz-tamer gives strands all-day shimmer.
HOW:  Smooth a nickel-sized amount through dry or damp hair before styling.

I'm excited to try this, although I'm not so sure about putting it on my dry hair since I have enough trouble with keeping the oil out.  I'll be giving this a try next time I wash my hair for sure!  My hair has faded out so I need all the help with shine that I can get!  Get it here.

Paula's Choice RESIST Ultra-Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum | Full-size, $26.95
WHAT:  Water-based anti-aging serum that normalizes skin and tightens pores.
HOW:  Morning and night, smooth a few drops onto clean, dry face.  Safe for use under the eyes.

My skin could use some normalizing!  It has been absolutely freaking out lately for whatever reason so I'm definitely looking forward to giving this a try.  Plus anything that will help shrink some pores doesn't hurt, either!  Get it here.

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara in Black Tea | Full Size, $18
WHAT:  All-natural lash-conditioning wonder that thickens and lengthens with real fruit pigments.
HOW:  Use two coats for extra volume.  The nonirritating formula is ideal for sensitive eyes.

I'm curious to see how this performs, especially with the pigmentation.  Another plus is that it conditions, which being that your eyelashes are hair is probably a neglected area in that sense for most all of us.  And it actually smells kind of like apple cider!  Get it here.

Ahmad Tea London Assorted Teas | Full size, $7

WHAT:  Beat the winter chill with tasty blends from a Buckingham Palace-approved British brand.
HOW:  Steep 3-5 minutes in near-boiling water.

I.LOVE.TEA.  I'm so excited to give these a try!  My boss got some tea in her Birchbox either last month or the month before and I was so jealous!  I've never had Blackcurrant tea before, but I just adore Peppermint tea (especially when I'm feeling a little stuffy) and who doesn't love a nice, regular cup of tea?  I'm excited for these!  Get them here.

Nail Rock Sequin | Full size, $6.99

WHAT:  The UK brand's two-step system for the world's brightest disco-ball mani.
HOW:  Use two coats of polish.  Dip wet nails into sequin pot, let dry 20 minutes, and shine on.

I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!  The funny thing is that I just put up my nail polish rack this weekend and filled it and I said to myself that I don't need anymore nail polish.  Of course I get nail polish.  But this doesn't count, right?  This is an accent nail type thing!  You get a Rock Polish Grip polish to use to grip onto the glitter alongside the pot of green and teal glitter.  I'm definitely going to be trying this this week.  I did my nails last night but one is already chipping (thanks to having to open up some packaging which is the enemy of a fresh manicure!) so I shall be redoing them soon.  I can't wait to share with you guys!  They have a bunch of different ones on the website so go check them out here!

And lastly we got these adorable little postcards/wall art that I can't wait to find some frames for.  I love each and every one of them!  They're such great little pick-me-ups in the morning when I'm going out the door!

And that's it!  What awesomeness did you get in your Birchbox?  Is there anything that I got that you'd like to see a review on?  Let me know and I'll make sure to let you guys know what I think!
