Girl About Town : New York City at Christmas

If you've never been to New York City at Christmastime, I would highly recommend putting it on your bucket list. Despite the crowds, which always give me the highest of anxiety, the entire city becomes the most magical place on Earth. Everything is beautiful. It's enchanting.

My Mom and I went up there last Thursday to walk around and take some pictures and enjoy the atmosphere. We ended up walking a little over 11 miles and I didn't get back to my apartment until 10 but it was amazing as always. We spent a TON of time in Macy's as their 9th floor is the biggest Christmas Wonderland I've ever seen. We wandered the Christmas Village in Bryant Park and said hello to the wreath-clad Lions guarding the knowledge of the New York Public Library. We strolled up and down 5th Avenue, taking in all of the amazing windows. And, of course, had to go see the tree in Rockefeller Center.

I hope you guys enjoyed the photos! And I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Swatches : Profusion Shimmer 10 Eyeshadow Palette

I was picking up some boring things from Rite Aid and just couldn't help the magnetic pull into the holiday makeup sets and palettes that always come out this time of year. Having had such great luck with the Profusion $1 palettes from last year, which are out again this year (swatches here and review/lookbook here), I figured I'd give another palette a try. This one is the Shimmer 10 Eyeshadow Palette and was $4.99.

The swatches were done over Benefit's Stay Don't Stray primer. The shadows looked like they were going to have crazy glitter fallout but it looks like the glitter is a layover of the shadow and mostly went away after I swatched the shadows. The shadow underneath looks to have a good deal of shimmer to it but it doesn't look like there's any chunky glitter.

I'll definitely be playing around with this the next couple days. I think this is perfect for the holiday time and any parties you might be going to. If Christmas and New Years aren't the perfect time to live in glitter I don't know when is!
